The GET REAL Oscar obits

Here are a few folks the (otherwise unexpectedly classy) 2010 Academy Awards telecast remenbered, and a bushel they forgot... Although I may have missed some they included.  The camera pulled back at times and one couldn't tell who was onscreen by face or printed name, and the time given each seemed to range between the time it takes to say 'blink' twice, and 'blink' five times.  Fie!  And more shame that it was followed by a long, meaningless sequence of synchronized modern dance, which I think was a sub for presenting nominated music, but I'm not sure, because I stepped out for a while, disgruntled.  Others I asked didn't remember 'the songs' either.  Perhaps they were presented but unmemorable, or other witnesses were stunned into snooze mode by the dance, or distracted by the question, Who-all did they leave out?  I know there was a bunch!  This may provide some answers and compensation:

HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS OF 'LIVE AID' DOLLARS intended for starving innocents in Ethiopia were taken by rebels, disguised as merchants (middlemen?  Apparently.  Oh yeah, right, like that's gonna work!!), who then used the money to buy the technology of destruction, dismenberment, death, and the other dastardly Ds damned deviltry dotes on.  It's an old story, whether the 'charitable organizations' were fakes from the beginning, or whether they were 'real', but got duped or stolen from.  Perhaps you were one of those dear little tykes given, what was in your hearts (and for the better training of your superegos), the desire to eschew candy to request money on Hallowe'en for UNICEF... Only to be told, by some of the more informed, thus solicited, that (No, I'm sorry, honey, but) UNICEF money  and food largely gets into the hands of ruthless killers whose fights and bullying caused the conditions that led to the childrens' horrid miseries in the first place. 'The UN is just not careful enough, and some of the countries in it want the UNICEF money to be stolen by the dictators or rebels, and the blue helmet UN Forces much more often attract fire to the refugees they're supposed to help, rather than protect them.  Sorry to have to tell you this, kids.  You're very good to want to help people, but you have to be very careful:  Not all so-called charities are good or wise'.

Ohhhh....Bama, you were supposed to be a break from the long slide of America into the insatiable jaws of  big international corporations devastating small businesses and public health-&-rights while they guzzled our re-directed taxes at the same time, and the late rollover to Clinton/Cheney (always assuming GWB as a mindforked tool, of course) warmongering fascism, but what we've had on your watch thus far has been all the good promises dried up and crushed like autumn leaves; beauty to dust and rot.  You are not as in-your-face mockingly smug as your last two predecessors in your hypocrisy, but (1) Propping up and honoring the monsters who made the current Great Depression II, (2) Letting the Heath Care debate and legislation turn from Public Option to 'Private Mandate'=public slavery to the damnable extortionists of the Insurance-Medical Establishment, (3) Expanded WAR, while letting off Halliburton, Blackwater/Xe Services, foreign government torturers-for-hire and other abominable, America-destroying war profiteers, and (4, though not the last) turning promises of green businesses inside out and backward to promote NUKES, and their multi-millenial, mega-massive poisoning of the Earth and her children!  These shout to your SHAME.

I've lived too long to put faith in any presidential candidate. (1) It's the USA since FDR: Running for the office is running to be a mega-mass-murderer (~as is true of the office of most major nations' head of gov't, and of any number of 3rd World thrones. Let Jesus explain this to you). (2)When the dust has settled on the history of most presidential administrations, we find that their most important effects have been quite the opposite of what they SAID were their dearest aims. Think about how and why Red China now holds the mortgage on (the) US.

So, while I preferred Obama over McCain (and continue to pray, as I have for decades, for US to get real toward a rational and viable MULTI-party system ... And maybe a parliamentary-type vote of No Confidence to the ruling administration rather than vain, schizoid tries at impeachment), I wondered if he would be just another-of-the-same.

He was elected (besides being Not Chaney, not dynastic, and the symbolic ethnic stuff) to STOP THE WAR and offer health care that would FREE us from extortionist insurers and docs. His record so far (even putting aside the Khalid Sheik Mohammed Civilian Trial in NYC lunacy) makes us ask, Is he a weenie or a Trojan Horse? --I think the answer is, "Stop! You're BOTH right!"

American Poor: Foot-Dangling Over Our Own Graves

...As if we could afford graves!  I live in a mostly comfy, if falling-apart and only partly heated, house that's almost as old as I am.  I have no health insurance, and don't care to have it, since the insurers and their make-mafiosos-look-like-choirboys, passive-(and otherwise!) aggressive, coolly sadistic extortionist medicos already took everything, from those infant-torturing experiments to more subtle mindfx and making my family and I pay ever greater $$$$$$ for ever greater malpractice and other insults.  I eat really well for someone whose innards are all messed up.  I am almost always dollarless if not literally penniless.  Old, crippled and crunched in so many ways--and, yes, this dependent (='Useless Eater' by Fabians, Nazis, Club of Rome-rs, etc.) is using a borrowed computer on a dependent screenname.  Yet I am one of the Lucky Ones by World standards, I really do have so much, by World standards, especially for being among those who like the idea of being invisible since that is so much better than being a cootie-statistic, an oh,-I-don't-want-to-become-That, that the better off pass by.  I can even earn my keep through work in dependent state, if not in the wage system, and hike a bit in gangland-bumland or even better places when I can save up for local one shot bus fare.

So, God bless the Haitians, who have been in appalling need as long as there's been history recorded there (at least), and God bless everyone else of all the nations, species and diversities of afflictions ever.

Is it sin to draw back with vast dread suspicion, and indeed wonder, at all these illustrious plutocrats, entitlistas, bling-bingers, warmongers and war profiteers* begging the rest of us for Money to Help?  The CLINTON-BUSH Relief Fund!!????!!  They who had the keys to the unused federal warehouses (stretching across the plains over the horizon (as seen on 60 Minutes some years back); they who caused still-rolling tidal waves of death, destruction, disgrace, fascism and agony only God can measure?  If I had aught to give...Would I?

*And might this crazy weather and earthquakes have come from those weapons of which conspiracy theorist so often speak?

  Wonderful lady who never picked up the diva attitude for all she might have claimed it.  She was an amazing and stunningly versatile lifelong performer.  Over 60 years of gracious work made this physically dainty person more than a pillar, more like a bearing wall of the house of Entertainment; a bearing wall made of glowing jewels.

Last month took JENNIFER JONES and BRITTANY MURPHY.  The signs thus far are that 2010 is not going to be an environment for the exquisite and ethereal (at least in the movies).  Puts me in mind of some of our oldest surviving female filmstars.  Prayers for the ladies of grace!

Glorious New Year's Skies

Belated blog halleluJahs to God for providing - at least for us in the eastern L.A. County/OC region, peacefully spectacular skies for New Year's day:  First, what is popularly called a 'blue moon'~a second full moon in a calendar month:  It wasn't actually blue,unless you count the iron-grey fur color called 'blue' in animals, but it was often that, through the hazy clouds, and stayed soft-edged, nimbused and appeared more than twice its size all through the night and next morning, the way you usually only see full moons as they rise in the East.  Then they're gold, and soon appear smaller, 'normal'; moonstone-white... But this stayed grey-kitten soft, even high in the West, when the western sky took on tones of purple, from deep lilac to crimson, at what was, in the East, perhap the most awesome, glorious dawn I'v seen in my several decades.  Not to be described.  All colors were there in majestic slow waft of pellucid, prismatic water molecules in many cloud-forms and transparent mist.  When sunset came, the mountains to the northeast were blushed with alpenglow, the much-needed new snow, both in the nearer San Gabriel Range, especially beloved 10,064 ft. Mt. San Antonio ('Old Baldy'), and the farther San Bernardinos with 11, 485 ft. Mt. San Gorgonio, softly gleaming ice-pink, while the just-past-solstice Sun and clouds made another wondrous show of autumn-leaves-colors turned to swaths and sparkles of  pure light in the southwest.  Again, thank You, Lord God Almighty.  We pray that it may be a good omen, and we worthy of it, but if not, may we retain the peace and gratitude of Thy lights and every benediction to comfort our hearts in all times:  In Jesus Name, so be it.
